commenced.

2. Using Our Website

Website Availability
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that our website is available at all times. However, we do not
guarantee uninterrupted access and may occasionally suspend, withdraw or restrict access to all or part of the
website for maintenance, updates, security or operational reasons.

Website Content
The information provided on our website is intended to help customers understand our products and services. We
take reasonable care to ensure information is accurate, but we may amend product specifications, prices,
materials, colours, product descriptions and availability without prior notice. Product photographs are intended as
a guide only.

Product Images and Colour Accuracy
We make every effort to display products accurately. However, actual colours and finishes may vary due to
different screen settings, mobile devices, monitor calibration, lighting conditions and natural timber characteristics.
Where colour matching is important, we strongly recommend ordering colour samples before placing an order.

Website Accuracy
Occasional errors may occur. If we discover an error affecting your order, including pricing, availability or product
specifications, we will contact you before processing your order to discuss the available options.

Website Security
Customers must not misuse the website by knowingly introducing viruses, attempting unauthorised access,
interfering with website functionality or using the website in any unlawful way.

3. Ordering

Ordering Online
Orders may be placed through our website by following the online ordering process. During the process you may
be asked to select your shutter style, material, colour, finish, louvre size, frame options, tilt rod options,
measurements, delivery details and any optional services. You are responsible for ensuring all information
submitted is accurate before placing your order.

Order Acknowledgement
After placing an order, you will receive an email acknowledging that we have received your order. This
acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.

Order Acceptance and Contract Formation
Your order is accepted only when payment has been authorised, any required design checks have been
completed, we have confirmed that your order can be manufactured, and we send you confirmation that your
order has been accepted. At that point, a legally binding contract is formed between you and British Shutters.

Design Check Service
Where you choose our optional Design Check Service, manufacture will not begin until your order has been
reviewed and any queries have been resolved. The Design Check is intended to help identify obvious design
issues, inconsistencies or configurations that may not work. It does not replace the customer’s responsibility for
ensuring that measurements provided for Supply Only orders are accurate.

Order Amendments
If you wish to amend an order, please contact us as soon as possible. Changes may be possible before
production begins. Once manufacturing has commenced, changes may not be possible because the products are
made specifically to your approved measurements and specification. Any agreed amendments may affect the
price, lead time, delivery date or product specification.

4. Measuring Responsibility

Why Accurate Measurements Matter
Accurate measurements are essential to ensure your shutters fit correctly. The responsibilities for measurement
differ depending on whether you choose Supply Only or optional measuring and installation services.

Supply Only Orders
If you purchase shutters on a Supply Only basis, you are responsible for providing accurate measurements. We
strongly recommend that you read our Measuring Guide, watch any measuring videos provided on our website,
contact us if you are unsure, and double-check all measurements before submitting your order. Shutters
manufactured using customer-supplied measurements cannot normally be remade or refunded if those
measurements are incorrect.

Design Check and Measurements
If selected, the Design Check Service may help identify obvious inconsistencies or unusual measurements, but it
does not verify measurements at your property. Responsibility for the accuracy of customer-supplied
measurements remains with the customer.

Professional Measuring Service
Where British Shutters provides a professional measuring service, our representative will attend your property to
take the measurements required for manufacture. Measurements recorded by our representative will be used for
production, subject to final customer approval of the design and specification.

Changes After Measuring
If windows, plaster, tiles, flooring, window boards or surrounding structures are altered after measurements have
been taken, you must inform us immediately. New measurements may be required and additional charges may
apply. We cannot accept responsibility for fitting issues caused by changes made after a survey or after
customer-supplied measurements were submitted.

5. Prices & Payment

Product Prices
All prices displayed on the British Shutters website are shown in Pounds Sterling (£). Unless otherwise stated,
prices include UK Value Added Tax (VAT) at the prevailing rate. Delivery charges, optional measuring services
and optional installation services are shown separately where applicable.

Price Changes
We reserve the right to change product prices at any time without prior notice. Changes will not affect orders
already accepted by British Shutters.

Pricing Errors
Despite our best efforts, pricing errors may occasionally occur. If we discover that a product or service has been
incorrectly priced, we will contact you before accepting your order. You may continue at the correct price, amend
the order, or cancel and receive a refund of any payment already made.

Payment Methods
We accept secure payment through Shopify Payments and other approved payment providers, which may include
Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay and PayPal. Available payment methods may change from
time to time.

Payment Timing
Unless otherwise agreed, full payment is required before manufacture of made-to-measure shutters begins.
Where optional measuring or installation services are purchased, separate payment arrangements may be
confirmed before work commences.

Promotions and Discount Codes
Promotional offers, voucher codes and discounts are subject to availability and may be withdrawn without notice.
They cannot normally be combined and must be applied before checkout. Offers cannot normally be applied
retrospectively after an order has been placed.

6. Manufacture

Made-to-Measure Production
Every British Shutters order is manufactured specifically for the individual customer using the measurements,
materials, colours and options selected and approved during the ordering process.

Manufacturing Lead Times
Estimated lead times are displayed on our website or provided during the order process. Lead times are
estimates only and may vary depending on product type, material selection, seasonal demand, public holidays,
shipping schedules, supplier availability and circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Manufacturing Tolerances
As every shutter is individually manufactured, slight variations may occur. Recognised manufacturing tolerances
apply. Minor variations that do not materially affect the normal performance of the shutters shall not be regarded
as defects.

Natural Materials
Where shutters are manufactured using natural timber, grain patterns, colour tones, natural markings and texture
may vary. These are natural characteristics and are not manufacturing faults.

Painted and Stained Finishes
Painted and stained finishes may vary slightly between batches. Lighting conditions and digital screens can also
influence how colours appear. Where colour accuracy is important, customers should order samples before
placing an order.

Product Improvements
British Shutters continually reviews its products and manufacturing processes. We reserve the right to make
reasonable improvements to products provided these do not materially reduce their quality, appearance or
functionality.

7. Delivery

Delivery Area
We deliver throughout mainland United Kingdom. Deliveries to remote areas, offshore islands or other
destinations may be subject to additional charges or extended lead times.

Delivery Dates
Estimated delivery dates are provided as guidance only. We make every effort to deliver within estimated
timeframes, but delays may occur due to circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Inspection on Delivery
Customers should inspect all goods as soon as reasonably possible after delivery. If any item appears damaged,
incomplete or incorrect, please notify British Shutters promptly and, where possible, within 48 hours of delivery.
Please provide photographs of the packaging and affected items to help us resolve the issue quickly.

Risk and Ownership
Responsibility for the goods passes to the customer once delivery has been completed to the address provided.
Ownership of the goods remains with British Shutters until payment has been received in full.

Failed Deliveries
If delivery cannot be completed because no one is available, access is unavailable, or incorrect delivery
information has been supplied, additional delivery or storage charges may apply.

Delays Beyond Our Control
We shall not be liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather,
industrial action, port congestion, shipping delays, customs delays, supplier disruption, national emergencies or
other events outside our control.

8. Installation

Availability
Professional installation is available in selected areas of the United Kingdom. Availability is subject to postcode
and may change over time. Installation is not included unless expressly purchased and confirmed.

Installation Appointments
Once your shutters have been delivered, we will arrange a mutually convenient installation appointment where
installation has been purchased. Customers should ensure safe access, adequate working space, and that
windows are clear of obstructions.

Customer Preparation
Customers should ensure building work has been completed before installation. Please inform us if windows have
been replaced, plastering or tiling has altered the openings, or access restrictions exist.

Failed or Delayed Installation
If installation cannot proceed because the property is not ready, access is unavailable, or the customer has not
disclosed relevant changes, additional charges may apply for a return visit or new measurements.

Completion and Sign-Off
Following installation, customers may be asked to inspect the shutters and confirm that installation has been
completed satisfactorily. Any concerns should be raised as soon as reasonably possible.

Third-Party Installation
Where shutters are installed by the customer or a third party, British Shutters cannot accept responsibility for
incorrect installation, damage during installation, incorrect adjustments, or damage resulting from improper
handling or fitting.

9. Returns & Cancellations

Requesting Changes
If you need to change your order after it has been placed, contact British Shutters as soon as possible. We will
make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests where production has not yet commenced.

Changes After Manufacture Begins
Once production has commenced, changes to made-to-measure products are not normally possible. Where
changes are exceptionally possible, additional charges may apply.

Cancelling Before Manufacture
Orders may normally be cancelled before production begins. If design work, surveys or other services have
already been carried out, British Shutters reserves the right to deduct reasonable costs already incurred before
issuing a refund.

Cancelling After Manufacture Begins
Because our shutters are manufactured specifically to your measurements and specification, orders cannot
normally be cancelled once production has commenced. This reflects the bespoke and personalised nature of the
products.

Returns and Bespoke Products
British Shutters products are made to individual customer measurements and specifications. Once manufacture
has commenced, they are not normally returnable simply because the customer has changed their mind. This
does not affect statutory rights where goods are faulty, damaged or not as described.

Damaged or Faulty Goods
If a product arrives damaged or contains a manufacturing defect, please contact us promptly with photographs.
Where appropriate, we may repair, replace, remake the affected part or provide another suitable remedy in
accordance with your statutory rights.

Incorrect Customer Measurements
For Supply Only orders, British Shutters cannot accept responsibility for products that do not fit due to incorrect
customer measurements. Where British Shutters has undertaken measuring and installation, we accept
responsibility for measurements taken by us, provided no relevant changes have been made to the property after
measurement.

10. 10 Year Warranty

Warranty Cover
British Shutters provides a 10 Year Warranty on eligible products from the date of delivery. The warranty covers
defects arising from faulty materials or workmanship under normal residential use.

What Is Covered
Subject to the warranty terms, cover may apply to structural manufacturing defects, faulty hinges or hardware,
faulty louvre mechanisms, significant manufacturing-related paint or finish defects, and defects that materially
affect the normal operation of the shutters.

What Is Not Covered
The warranty does not cover incorrect measurements supplied by the customer, incorrect installation by the
customer or a third party, misuse, accidental damage, abuse, neglect, normal wear and tear, fire, flood, extreme
weather, alterations after installation, improper cleaning, or natural ageing of timber or painted finishes.

Warranty Claims
To make a warranty claim, contact British Shutters with your order number, a description of the issue and
photographs of the affected product. We may request further information or arrange an inspection before
determining the appropriate remedy.

Warranty Remedies
Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, British Shutters may repair the affected component, supply
replacement parts, replace the shutter, or provide another suitable remedy. The warranty does not provide
compensation beyond the remedies described unless required by law.

Legal Rights
The warranty is provided in addition to your statutory rights and does not limit any rights you may have under
consumer protection law.

11. Product Information

Natural Timber Characteristics
Timber is a natural material. Grain patterns, texture, colour variation and natural markings may be visible and are
part of the appearance of real wood products. These characteristics are not defects.

Colour Variation
Painted and stained finishes may vary slightly between samples, batches and finished products. Lighting
conditions can also influence the appearance of colour. We recommend ordering samples where colour matching
is important.

Photography Disclaimer
Images on our website are for illustrative purposes only. Room lighting, editing, screen settings and device type
may affect how colours and finishes appear online.

Dimensions and Tolerances
All dimensions are manufactured within recognised tolerances. Minor variations that do not materially affect the
product’s operation or appearance are not considered defects.

Moisture and Environment
Customers should select appropriate materials for humid rooms such as bathrooms, kitchens or utility rooms. Our
team can advise on suitable options before ordering.

Care and Maintenance
Regular dusting and gentle cleaning are usually sufficient. Customers should avoid harsh chemicals, excessive
moisture and abrasive cleaning methods unless specifically recommended by British Shutters.

12. Limitation of Liability

Providing Accurate Information
Customers are responsible for ensuring that contact details, delivery information, measurements, product
selections and service requirements are complete and accurate.

Access for Services
Where measuring or installation services have been arranged, customers must provide safe and reasonable
access to the property at the agreed appointment time. If our team cannot complete the agreed work because
access is unavailable or the property is not ready, additional charges may apply.

Inspection of Goods
Customers should inspect goods promptly after delivery or installation and report concerns as soon as reasonably
possible.

Care and Maintenance
Customers are responsible for maintaining shutters in accordance with care guidance provided by British
Shutters. Improper care may affect warranty coverage.

Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to your statutory rights, British
Shutters shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of income or profits, costs arising from
incorrect customer measurements, third-party installation costs, or losses caused by events beyond our
reasonable control. Our total liability shall not exceed the purchase price paid for the affected goods or services
except where otherwise required by law

and photographs where applicable. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it fairly and efficiently.

Alternative Dispute Resolution
If we are unable to resolve a complaint directly, we will consider appropriate methods of Alternative Dispute
Resolution where suitable. Participation in ADR will depend upon the circumstances of the dispute and the
availability of an appropriate independent provider. Nothing in this section affects your legal rights.

Force Majeure
British Shutters shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations where such delay or failure
results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Examples include severe weather, fire, flood,
industrial action, shipping disruption, port congestion, supplier delays, government restrictions, public health
emergencies, power failures or cybersecurity incidents affecting critical systems.

Communication During Delays
Where possible, we will notify customers of any significant delays and work to minimise their impact
